Ripped from the headlines!

In my most recent book, Fly By Night, Jammer Davis is hunting for a lost CIA drone in the Middle East. Anyone been watching the news lately? Sure enough, the CIA has actually lost one and Iran claims to have it. It was my idea, darn it!
On another note, if anyone has not read my first book, The Perfect Assassin, it is available on Amazon as a 99 cent download for a short time. Enjoy the holidays!

WW II

If you like World War II thrillers my second book, Stealing Trinity, is presently on sale for $2.99 on Kindle. It's a story about a spy in the Manhattan Project at the end of the war.
I was flying over Northern Arizona last week and got this great picture of the Grand Canyon from 6 miles up! It's taken looking north, and you can see snow around the North Rim.

Fly By Night

The new Jammer Davis thriller is on the shelves (and the websites).
A top secret CIA drone has been lost in the Horn of Africa and Davis is sent to investigate. What he finds is a conspiracy that will tear the region apart.
According to the New York Journal of Books, "Fly By Night is fast-paced and engaging. Thoroughly enjoyable."

On Sale--Limited Time Only

For those who have not tried my most recent book, Fly By Wire, it is presently on sale as an Amazon Kindle book for $2.99. Supplies are not limited, but I' not sure how long the sale will last.
I'm sad to say goodbye to Deb Stowell who is leaving Circle Books in Sarasota, Florida. Deb is moving away, and we will all miss her. Circle Books, however, will endure. While electronic books are making their mark, independent bookstores remain a great source for recommendations and browsing on a cool fall day. Please support them when you can. Best to all.

How engaging

This image was sent to me by Rayna Ramsey, a photographer in New Zealand. She was reading my book and decided it would make a good prop for her shoot of a model on a sailboat. You never know where your books are going to end up!

Free Beer

On August 26 and 27 I'll be attending the Mystery Florida Conference in Sarasota. It's a great chance to meet your favorite writers and learn a little about how they approach their craft. Don't miss Friday night's Mystery Mingle. I'll buy a drink for anyone who mentions this blog!
I've been reading Michael Connelly lately. The man always tells an engaging story--a true gift. Enjoy those summer reads!

The Messenger: A Short Story

I've recently uploaded a short story call The Messenger on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The plot revolves around an old man who has spent his life amid the turmoil of the Middle East, and reflects on the futility of the conflict. A cameo appearance is made by David Slaton, the protagonist of The Perfect Assassin.
I will be attending Thrillerfest in New York City on July 8th and 9th, and while you won't see me on any panels due to scheduling conflicts, I'll be available to chat or sign a book.

The Edgars cometh!

The Mystery Writers of America have announced that Thrillers: 100 Must Reads has been nominated for an Edgar Award in the Critical/Biographical category. As mentioned before, this book is a great reference for those who love the genre. Best of luck to David Morrell, Hank Wagner, and the other 98 contributors (including yours truly) at the Edgars.
For those who enjoyed Fly By Wire, Jammer Davis will return this November in Fly By Night. Catchy title, huh? More on this book as the release date approaches. Keep reading!

2011!

Happy New Year to all!
I've gotten many contacts over the last few years that fall in two camps. A: When are you going to write another book featuring that great character so-and-so? and B: I'm so glad your books always feature different characters. For those on the A-side who enjoyed Fly By Wire, you'll be happy to hear that my next book will again feature Jammer Davis. Hoorah! Stay tuned for details.
For those who don't already know, I'm a captain for Southwest Airlines. I hereby start a contest--the first passenger on one of my flights who mentions this blog will get a free signed first edition of their book of choice (has to be one of mine.) So the next time you're flying SWA, check up front!
